Meet Our Fearless Leader
Jim is a third generation restauranteur in Morro Bay. Some of his earliest memories are of washing dishes in his grandfather Tiger’s restaurant where he worked his way up to cook. Upon graduation from Morro Bay High School, Jim moved to Hawaii and worked in several high-end restaurants. He continued to hone his skills working with the freshest of seafood and delicious, high-quality ingredients. Tired of Island life, Jim returned home to Morro Bay and re-joined the family business where he worked for 35 years.
About Taco Temple
Taco Temple had humble beginnings as a small take-out shop in Cayucos, CA in 1997. It didn’t take long for central coast locals and vacationers alike to learn that Taco Temple had some of the best local cuisine. With a line often out the door and around the corner the owners thought it was time to move to a larger location and offer a full dining experience!
In 2015, after enjoying many years of building the Taco Temple brand and reputation Taco Temple is sold from the previous owners and Jim Leage takes the helm to maintain Taco Temple’s reputation for superb, creative, fresh food with friendly, helpful service.
In 2018 after searching for a secondary location fate aligned and the Temple team purchased the old Margies Diner location in San Luis Obispo. In May of 2019 Taco Temple proudly open its second location at 1575 Calle Joaquin, SLO. The building was originally a Howard Johnson’s Restaurant. Then, it became, as most “locals” know it, Margie’s Diner.
The Temple team is proud to expand its reputation for fantastic fresh food and friendly service with our new Chef, Peter Irwin. Come in and enjoy our delicious fresh food along with our newly updated, funky, California beach style!
